It's breast cancer awareness month and I am curious about your claim that exercise is one of the best ways to combat cancer and wonder if you can provide some clarity around that? I don't understand what you mean. Thank you so much xx

    Hi there Sandy,

Thanks for your excellent question. As I've said above, exercise is one of the best ways to combat and help prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. You mention the breast cancer awareness month so I assume you must be in New Zealand.
You will see on the Beast Cancer NZ website that they recommend exercise on their 'Lower the risk of breast cancer' page which you can see here
    http://nzbcf.org.nz/BREASTCANCER/RiskFactors/Lowertheriskofbreastcancer.aspx .

Further afield, I find Dr Mark Hyman has very good balanced and holistic advice on all things related to health and wellbeing. You can watch a brief video of his here in which he explains why exercise is so effective and in which he also confirms that it combats disease, including cancer.
    http://drhyman.com/blog/2015/09/11/you-cant-exercise-your-way-out-of-a-bad-diet-but-here-are-7-reasons-why-exercise-is-still-important/

I would recommend reading his books for further information. In particular the blood sugar solution.

We know that there is no one magic bullet to solve Cancer or to guarentee prevention 100% (heart breaking as that is for those facing it or with family members in that situation - I know we have been there within my extended family)

The great thing is that so many lifestyle choices can help to prevent cancer and exercise is one of them, plus it gives us such a vast range of benefits - physically, mentally and emotionally.

I hope that this answers your question and is helpful for you. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Also, as it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, anyone reading this may wish to sign this petition to extend free mammograms to women up to age 74.

Look out for the street appeal this coming Friday and Saturday (9th/10th Oct) or text PINK to 4644 to give $3.

    with love,
    Lauren
